Yard Laborer - Coastal Region - North Carolina - 2022
Job description
Summary:
The Yard Laborer is responsible for general labor and help on an asphalt recycling plant. This position is also responsible for ensuring the plant is properly maintained and organized.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plant cleanup including shoveling and pressure washing
- Assist the Assistant Plant Operator with repairs, maintenance, and daily inspections
Global Responsibilities:
- Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position
- This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needs
Qualifications:
Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- No prior experience is required
- Construction or mining labor experience preferred
Skills/Abilities:
- Willingness to work hard and learn
Working Conditions:
- Majority of work performed outside
- Exposure to elements of weather including heat, cold, rain and dust
- Occasionally/frequently exposed to rough, muddy, walking surface
- Intermittent exposure to high noise levels and vibration
- Frequent exposure to moving parts/pieces of equipment
- Frequent exposure to asphalt, dust, diesel fuel, and other substances.
- Frequent exposure to water and wet conditions
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional bending, stooping, and kneeling
- Frequent periods of extended sitting
- Occasional need to climb
- Shovel heavy material
- Occasional need to stretch, reach and grab
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional periods of walking across uneven surfaces
- Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
