Description & Requirements

Womble Bond Dickinson's Winston-Salem office seeks a Word Processor able to utilize a task management system to log work received from attorneys and staff in multiple offices.


Essential Functions include:


  • Create/edit documents from handwritten materials, existing documents, PDF, or audio files
  • Convert PDFs to Word or other format and style using firm style standards and templates
  • Set up Word documents with multi-level automatic paragraph numbering
  • Proofread work product for accuracy prior to returning to client
  • Troubleshoot document formatting issues
  • Mark and generate TOCs, TOAs and Indices using Word tools
  • Create fillable forms in Word or PDF format
  • Create mail merge documents for letters, mailing labels, name badges
  • Create redlined documents using compareDocs or Word
  • Create/edit PowerPoint presentations
  • Edit, manipulate and sort Excel spreadsheets
  • Transcribe audio files/cassette tapes using firm transcription software and devices
  • Enter time entries
  • File and store completed documents in the document management system (DMS)
  • Scan/copy documents
  • Answer firm switchboard calls, as needed
  • Draft/email task reports, as needed
  • Notarize documents, as requested
  • Work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Utilize firm training materials to learn new technology and skills

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), PDF conversion software (Adobe Acrobat Pro), and document comparison software (compareDocs)


  • Knowledge of Word’s tools for creating TOCs, TOAs and Indices
  • Understanding of Word styles, automatic paragraph numbering, and section breaks


Experience/Education:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one year word processing experience preferred

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily, with attention to detail. Excellent client service is expected. The essential job duties are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Punctuality and satisfactory attendance is imperative.

Weekly Hours are Monday - Friday, 4:30pm – 12:00am, 37.5 hours/week, working in the office. The hours for training purposes may vary.
