Job Summary:

The Water/Wastewater Project Engineer will work closely with other engineers, technical specialists, and clients to successfully deliver innovative solutions for our client's challenges. They provide planning and design services for civil projects including water, sewer, stormwater, and irrigation within the Pacific Northwest and surrounding region. This includes piping, pump stations, permitting, treatment, hydrology calculations, and hydraulic calculations.


Responsibilities include:

  • Develop detailed designs, plans, specifications, reports and cost estimates for treatment plants, pipelines, pump stations, tanks and other water / wastewater storage and conveyance systems. More specific responsibilities include performing or managing engineering design, hydraulics, pumping systems, pipelines, water storage reservoirs, and treatment process projects
  • Ability to coordinate with the multiple departments and sub-consultants required for multi-discipline projects
  • Ability to create, calibrate, modify and perform hydraulic modeling for water and wastewater systems, and interpret and communicate the results to others
  • Play a key role in all phases of project development, design, and construction
  • Analyze engineering data, prepare plans and specifications, and make sound engineering decisions to solve client challenges
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Planners, Surveyors, Environmental and GIS professionals for reports, design, and construction phase services for various private and public agency projects
  • Collaborate with government agencies for permits, reviews, and other necessary requirements
  • Organize and conduct meetings with consulting partners, contractors, clients, and agencies
  • Effectively use design tools such as Microsoft Office and modeling software to communicate engineering decisions in reports, technical memorandums, e-mails, and by telephone
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Water, wastewater, stormwater, and irrigation design and construction experience
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Advanced understanding of water treatment / distribution and wastewater collection / treatment principles and state regulations is preferred
  • Competent in ACAD and GIS
  • Ability to research and utilize available resources

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 4-8+ years of civil engineering experience in the municipal water/wastewater and/or public works field of engineering is preferred.
  • Design and/or planning experience with water/wastewater projects
