Humana’s Primary Care Organization with 300 wholly-owned primary care practices is a division of Humana Inc., operating in markets throughout the United States committed to helping seniors achieve their best health and life through high-quality integrated healthcare, enabling physicians and caregivers with tools and systems focused on the needs of their patients. The PCO has a national footprint with new markets continuing to open each year through de novo growth and heavy M&A activity.

Preferred Location is Louisville, Ky, Miami, FL or current primary care market.

Responsibilities

The VP, HR Leader for Humana’s primary care practices will oversee strategy and execution of all Human Resource functions and activities on a daily basis, those with direct and indirect reporting relationships, as part of the evolution of the HR Clinical Delivery Model.


This model will provide

  • More transparency and improved metrics; granular reporting at clinic level
  • Improved partnership with shared ownership of objectives and deliverables
  • Fully dedicated staff to develop Subject Matter Expertise of CDO needs while maintaining the ability to leverage enterprise COE resources
  • Prioritize the needs of the Primary Care Organization
  • Minimize duplication and handoffs
  • Defined governance and decision rights


The VP, HR Leader will sit with PCO leadership team to drive strategic impact of the human capital plan, drive consistent clinical HR best practice and execution of delivery across entities, drive clinical culture, and fully bring to bear all HR capabilities; BLG, HRSS, Compensation, TA, HCA, Benefits and I&D. The team will function as one intact team leveraging process center expertise, regardless of reporting relationships. The VP, HR Leader will be the single point of HR accountability for all aforementioned functions.

Priority focus to include -

  • Strategic human capital direction for both entities
  • Drive and ensure execution of physician and operations recruiting strategy with flawless execution to ensure clinic and market staffing effectiveness to meet center needs
  • Annual benefit refresh of specific benefit plans to ensure market competitive, working in tandem with clinic and HR leadership
  • Lead HR integration of Conviva and CDO at future date into one clinical entity
  • Drive clinical culture in partnership with segment and clinical leadership
  • Accountable with HRSS to develop clinic specific policies and responsibility for operational oversight
  • Accountability for market relevant compensation programs with compensation leader and execution
  • Clinical specific support programs
  • Direct oversight of BLG teams for both organizations
  • Dotted line accountability for TA, HRSS, and Talent/Learning
  • Negotiating and enforcing service level agreements (SLAs) and metrics with corporate partners that meet business needs
  • Annual HR processes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, advanced degree preferred
  • Deep HR experience across multiple HR disciplines, preferably in a decentralized, franchise, business model
  • Experience and demonstrated success leading change, while bringing appropriate and necessary tension into conversation with corporate partners to optimize business outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Experience implementing and measuring success on complex initiatives
  • Strategic thinker with ability to work independently and direct the work of a large matrixed team
  • Executive coaching and the ability to build effective and trusting relationships with senior leaders
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Process-focused, with ability to drive meaningful process improvement and user experience
  • Master's or other advanced degree preferred
