Job description
The Hospital Assistant is an integral, entry-level position at Wood River Animal Hospital. They provide care for our patients, they assist the technicians, receptionists and doctors in their work, they help maintain the cleanliness of the facility, and they perform the customer service that is critical for our hospital to survive!
A high school diploma or equivalent is a requirement for this position. Exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances for a promising candidate. Experience working directly with the public is preferred. Prior experience in a veterinary hospital is favorable but not necessary. You must be able to reach over your head to retrieve supplies. The assistant position requires lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Additionally, the position requires much bending, standing, and walking, sometimes for long periods. Strength and agility will sometimes be required in capturing and restraining strong, active, and sometimes aggressive pets. Speaking, hearing and responding to callers, clients, visitors and other employees is necessary.
Must be able to work flexible hours (including some weekend shifts and holidays) and multi-task effectively within a team.
