Vale Park Animal Hospital is seeking a qualified Veterinary Assistant with previous experience working in a veterinary hospital. Candidate must be friendly, outgoing, and people oriented. Must be a self-motivated, team player who is attentive to detail, effective at oral and written communication, and demonstrates strong technical skills. Computer and telephone skills are a must.

The role of the Veterinary Assistants is similar to that of a registered nurse in a doctor's office. Veterinary Assistants are the veterinarian's right hand. In many cases, the vet assistant is often the first person to examine an animal when it comes into the veterinary clinic.
Responsibilities and Duties
The duties of a Veterinary Assistant include:
- Ensuring that clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable
- Assisting veterinarians to provide compassionate nursing care
- Performing cursory exams and educating clients on all aspects of pet health
- Maintaining complete and accurate medical records by obtaining relevant information and history from clients
- Filling prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian, and explaining prescription directions and potential side effects to clients
- Assisting receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and providing telephone support
- Preparing various laboratory tests
- Suggesting dietary products and other services to clients
- Keeping our facilities clean and well maintained
- Using safe restraining techniques and following standard protocols
Qualifications and Skills
At minimum we require applicants to have a high school diploma
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.50 - $24.00 per hour
