POSITION SUMMARY – VEHICLE SERVICE ATTENDANT
Responsible for cleaning and detailing fleet of transit vehicles. Establishes and promotes a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment. Ensures compliance with County, local, state and federal regulations regarding vehicle maintenance.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Prior experience in a similar position preferred.
Skills: Must have or obtain within 90 days: valid North Carolina CDL driver’s license with P endorsement.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. Vision, hearing, speech and manual dexterity are required. Must be able to read and comprehend reference materials, service manuals, parts manuals and electrical/pneumatic schematics. Other physical demands may be necessitated based on work assigned.
Mental Demands: Must have the ability to listen, reason, think, concentrate and interact with others. Ability to follow instructions and manuals is necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Washes outside of buses as scheduled using steam cleaner, brushes, hoses, soap & water, and special cleaners to ensure a clean and professional appearance
- Cleans interior of bus using brooms, mops, rags and cleaning products on a daily basis.
- Removes outdated notices on interior sign racks and posts new notices or flyers as needed.
- Collects and turns in Lost & Found items during the interior cleaning process. Documents items on the L&F Log, affixes tags to items, and turns them over to the Maintenance Supervisor for secure storage.
- Fuels and services each vehicle used during the day. Adds fluids and checks tire pressure. Performs daily visual vehicle inspection, reporting defects
- Drives vehicles through bus wash
- Probes fare boxes.
- Checks and replaces consumables and equipment as necessary
- Replaces accessories such as light bulbs, mirrors, wiper blades and seat cushions
- Sweeps, mops, and cleans garage floors, pits, and service areas
- Lifts, moves and dumps trash containers
