Position: Cook/Cook Assistant

Location: Kaimuki, Oahu, HI

Experience:

• Experience in food prep and service required
• Experience in cooking required
• Experience in skilled nursing or long-term care facility preferred

Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; Food Handler Certified or ServSafe Certification of equivalent level required

Type: Full-time

Schedule: The schedule will most likely be 3 shifts of 12 hours. Currently it is Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, this may change later depending on our operations. Ideal candidate has Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday availability from 6:30am to 6:30pm.

Pay: $16 and up, depending on experience

Kahu Malama Nurses is seeking a Cook/Cook Assistant to join our growing and dynamic team!

Job Description:

• Plans meals by analyzing recipes; assist in retrieving and ordering ingredients
• Prepares food ingredients by cutting, slicing, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing ingredients; adding seasonings; verifying taste
• Completes meal preparation by grilling, roasting, sauteing, frying, and broiling ingredients, verifying doneness and taste, assembling, and refrigerating cold ingredients
• Controls food costs by adhering to recipes, following preparation standards
• Maintains sanitary kitchen by adhering to state and local sanitation, storage, and refrigeration requirements and codes; cleaning equipment
• Maintains food supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt; ensures that stock is always fresh by checking dates and rotating stock
• Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

• Valid Driver License and clean DMV record
• Maintain annual TB and PE requirements as to not allow them to lapse/expire
• Ability to self-manage, and willingness to take initiative
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to facilitate proper communication with others
• Ability to demonstrate organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities
• Demonstrate a team player attitude, enthusiastic, and self-motivated
