Tesla Service Distribution is hiring for this critical role for our Lathrop, CA location. A successful Training, Safety & 5S Lead will be approachable, organized, internally motivated, and trustworthy. Our ideal Training, Safety & 5S Lead embodies the Tesla culture and the individualistic approach to training a diverse group of talented individuals, driving safety standards within the locations, and ensuring those standards are consistent with those at other Service Distribution Centers. Additionally, this individual will take the same approach to 5S standards as described with training and safety. This individual will need to be able to impact those within their location while aligning with management and their peer at other Distribution Locations to drive consistency in training, safety, and 5S.
What You’ll Do- Train new team members on end-to-end processes, emphasizing safety, quality, and productivity.
- Provide training to existing team members as processes evolve and improve to ensure team member success as functions change.
- Track training coverage for all Distribution staff and identify areas where additional training is required while adding to and removing training retirements as business needs change.
- Assist in retraining low-performing team members to assist with improvement and development.
- Work with Management, Supervisors, Leads, and area experts on training plans, coordinate schedules with their group, and conduct area cross-training to allow for a flexible, efficient work team.
- Perform Instruction, Certification, and Safety audit on shift.
- Monitor Certification Audit failure trends and develop a corrective action plan with Leads and Supervisors. Participate in Certification Audit Failures' problem-solving activities to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions.
- Explain KPIs and metrics to team members in ways entry-level team members can digest to set clear expectations up from day 1.
- Audit training record data for accuracy.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date standard operating procedure documentation.
- Collaborate with EH&S to maintain Tesla Safety standards while improving standards for requirements specific to Distribution needs.
- Share and standardize safety practices with other Distribution warehouses for best-in-class safety network-wide.
- In-depth understanding of quality & safety requirements with suggestions to prevent future occurrence of known issues.
- Promote continuous improvement of all training programs.
- Promote a culture of high 5S standards.
- Facilitate on-shift New Hire Orientation activities.
- Certify team members on the forklift and other material handling equipment.
- Culture leader who constantly tests Tesla standards with an eye for “raising the bar.”
- Evidence of exceptional ability.
- Experience in high-volume training or coordination/administrative roles in a fast-paced environment and leadership role.
- Experience with promoting EH&S, Safety, and 5S programs.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to facilitate training classes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including solid interpersonal skills.
- Displays empathy, patience & interest in adult learning.
- Demonstrates personal leadership and accountability.
- Ability to set one's daily schedule based on needs specified by business needs.
