The Center for Performing Arts & Education facility is looking for
theater technicians to help run events for the Dublin Unified
School District, City of Dublin, and outside rentals. All experience
ranges are welcome. We are a learning facility for students and
technicians who want more experience with sophisticated equipment. The
position is called an AT WILL/ON CALL technician. This means that we post
the schedule of events and open slots for people to sign up when they can work
through our Humanity shift planning app. It's a very balanced system, and
due to other freelancing jobs, it is incredibly flexible. The rate of pay is
determined after a brief interview with the Theater Manager on technical
skill sets and general knowledge of being a theater technician ($20 - $30
per hour).

Our facility is eight years old. Our lighting console is the ETC GIO @5
with ETC LED colorsource cyc, ETC LED colorsource pars as
back and down light, ETC LED Lustr+ (2 & 3), front light and specials, ETC LED
colorsource spots for high sides. We have two Martin Viper Profiles on our
first electric (motorized), two on our fourth electric, two Martin Axiom Hybrids on the black truss in the house, and two LED Vari-lite VLZ profiles on the truss over the house. We also have an old ION, Nomad, and Puck from ETC as portable design consoles.

Our main sound console is a Yamaha CL5, but we also have Midas M32 and M32r digital mixers. We use QLAB, Arkaos Media Master Pro, Resolume, Showcontroller, Beyond, and Madmapper, for sound, projections, and Kavant laser. We have two projectors; Christie 7500 lumen lamp-based and Epson 15,000 lumen laser.

We have an intercom everywhere and a Clear-Com FreeSpeak II wireless system for employees only (Agent IQ mobile).
Our microphones range from EarthWorks, Shure, Sennheiser, Rode, Audix, and
more. We have 40 wireless body packs for our big musicals (Shure ULXD, Sennheiser G3, & Audio Technica).

The space is equipped with a full fly rail and motorized orchestra lift.

We have done ZFX/FOY flying in the venue three times, and one was automated so
the actor could walk along the wall and upside down across the proscenium (Mary Poppins).

The space is constantly evolving, and we are looking for a few good
technicians to help us progress further.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Theater Manager, help facilitate the daily operation of the Center for Performing Arts & Education; prepare and construct materials and equipment for performances; perform a variety of clerical and secretarial duties in support of the theatre; assist in the creation and maintenance of student, staff, department and rental performances and events; train and provide work direction to student workers.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Prepare and construct materials and equipment for performances; set up lighting, sound equipment, rigging, platforms, orchestra ceiling, rails, and other theatre equipment; maintain and perform minor repairs on theatre equipment; construct and assist with the installation of theatre sets.

Perform various clerical and secretarial duties in support of the theatre; receive and sort calls, voice messages, and emails from clients.

Train and provide work direction to student workers.

Operate various office and theatre equipment, including a computer and assigned software, sound and lighting consoles, platforms, hand and power tools, and microphones.

Attend a variety of meetings as required.

OTHER DUTIES:

Perform related duties as assigned. This may include other areas on campus or off-site besides the Center for Performing Arts & Education facility.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

OSHA safety standards relating to equipment used, including fire codes.

Sound and lighting principles.

Operation and maintenance of theatre equipment.

Basic record-keeping techniques.

Basic rigging protocols.

ABILITY TO:

Facilitate the daily operation of the Center for Performing Arts & Education;

Prepare and construct materials and equipment for performances;

Assist in creating and maintaining student, staff, department, and rental performances and events.

Train and provide work direction to student workers.

Operate and demonstrate proper use of stage and shop equipment, including hand and power tools.

Maintain records and inventories.

Work cooperatively with others.

Work nights and weekend hours as needed.

Assist with sound, lighting, and other areas of stage production.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination is equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of increasingly responsible theatre experience.

Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling heavy objects (50lbs Minimum).

Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.

HAZARDS:

Working at heights.

Exposure to paint fumes.
