Job Description – Test Technician – Auburn Hills, MI

Co-ordinates all test equipment related activities for test/prototype departments by performing the following duties personally or through teamwork. Is self-disciplined and undertakes planning for test equipment and measurement activities. Key member for all business units in regard to test equipment, measurements and test methods. Influences test equipment design and development to ensure realistic testing methods regarding vehicle conditions, customer, and internal requirements and specifications.

Specific duties and responsibilities

• Supports procurement planning and realization for all business units and coordinates with cost center manager.
• Planning and realization of test equipment procurements in teamwork with the requestor. Hardware and Software development based on project related input from requestor (normally Test Engineer).
• Takes care of all preventive maintenance, maintenance, and repair activities (all test equipment including climate chambers) to ensure failure-free operations of all equipment (includes ordering of spare parts).
• Coordinates the continuous calibration activities of all test equipment as input for the quality department which coordinates the calibration of measurement equipment e.g. gauges or sensors etc.
• Is responsible for troubleshooting on different test equipment.
• Supports different measurement requests including basic knowledge in software programming, programmable controller programming (for ex. Siemens S7/Logo or Allen Bradley) and Diadem measurements and analysis.
• Has basic knowledge of bus systems (for ex. CAN/LIN).
• Implements and maintains measurement equipment administration and tracking system.
• Performs training for test stands, test-, measurement- and data acquisition methods.
