Physical Demands
To perform these job duties, you must feel confident working on ladders of all sizes and must feel confident working with hand tools and power tools. The job duties take place in all areas of the University campus including the campus tunnel system and building rooftops.
Job Summary
The tech position on the I&AT team is responsible for installing network infrastructure, security cameras, AV equipment, UPS’s, trouble shooting, and more. The Infrastructure and Academic Technology (I&AT) team is part of UNC’s IT department here on campus. The I&AT team is responsible for delivering Tech solutions for different tech spaces throughout campus which includes classroom technology, conference room set ups, digital signage, Auditorium audio and video, and other unique systems. I&AT must provide 30 minutes of backup power to every network closet on campus by installing and maintaining UPSs in each network switch stack. I&AT is constantly upgrading and maintaining the campus surveillance system by installing new cameras and replacing old cameras. I&AT is also responsible for installing new infrastructure to ensure physical network connections are placed where a direct network connection is needed. On the job training is provided so no experience is necessary. To perform these job duties, you must feel confident working on ladders of all sizes and must feel confident working with hand tools and power tools. The job duties take place in all areas of the University campus including the campus tunnel system and building rooftops.
Minimum Qualifications
Work will all be done on Campus and training will be provided. The ability to climb ladders, work with hand tools and power tools, lift 60lbs, and have a valid driver’s license is a must. Work in confined spaces, tunnels, attics, and above the dropped ceiling.
Preferred Qualifications
Customer service and communications skills are preferred.
