Overview:
Supports the Fort Buchanan Network Enterprise Center with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Management (C4IM) Services for customers located at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico.
Responsibilities:
  • Be telephonically available to the Government representative from 0700 thru 1600, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
  • Be available to be at a specified work location within 30 minutes during normal duty hours and within two hours after duty hours.
  • Performs site surveys and preventive maintenance on communication infrastructure.
  • Maintains, installs, de-installs, removes, and moves (as stated on the appropriate service form) all instruments, service lines, and Local Area Network (LAN) service.
  • Utilizes the NetPlus Telecommunications Management System (TMS)
  • Performs work within I3A standards and procedures
  • Interpret blueprints
  • Applies a standards-compliant labeling scheme (e.g., ANSI/TIA-606)
  • Troubleshoots Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) link/channel with a certification test set
  • Troubleshoots optical fiber channel with an optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR)
  • Performs testing and installation of CAT5/CAT6 cable
  • Maintain accurate and updated cable records from the telephone frame to the End User Building (EUB) customer location
  • Inspect and maintain communication infrastructure within cable enclosures to include poles, pedestals, manholes, hand holes, pull holes, and vaults IAW I3A specification criteria.
  • Maintains, installs, de-installs, moves, or removes (as identified on the appropriate service form) all OSP cable, including copper, CAT5 or CAT6 and fiber optic cable
  • Conduct site surveys and inspections
  • Performs specialized testing of fiber optic cables to ensure strands meet I3A Criteria specifications;
  • Maintains accurate and updated cable records from the telephone frame to the End User Building (EUB) customer location
  • Inspects and maintains communication infrastructure within cable enclosures to include poles, pedestals, manholes, hand holes, pull holes, and vaults IAW I3A specification criteria.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
  • Minimum Education: Associates Degree or 2 years’ experience in inside or outside plant operations
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years’ experience troubleshooting copper and fiber optical cable installations
  • Experience supporting the U.S. Army or similar DoD entity
  • Security Clearance: Secret
  • DoD 8570 Baseline Certification: N/A
  • Other Certification: BICSI TE 350 Training and Certification. Candidates that do not have the TE350 certification at time of hire will complete training within three (3) months of task order award and certification shall be completed within six (6) months of task order award.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
  • Supported the U.S. Army or other DoD/Federal Agency.
  • Has the communication skills to effectively interface with senior military officials, managers, and subordinates.
Special Requirements/Security Clearance:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Secret Security Clearance
  • By Light does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters; vaccination requirements and testing are subject to the status of the federal contractor mandate and customer site requirements; testing is at the cost of the employee.
