My Crop Technologies, LLC, is a growing software company that specializes in the development and support of crop processing software systems. We have successfully implemented and managed crop insurance software systems used to process over $1.6 billion in annual premiums (including MPCI and Crop Hail), supporting all FCIC approved crop/product combinations in the United States.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a talented and experienced technical writer to join our company and create high-quality documentation related to crop insurance software. As a technical writer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a variety of technical documents, including online help, release notes, user manuals, and training materials.

You should have a strong background in technical writing, have excellent communication and writing skills, be a self-starter, and be curious by nature. You should also be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and coordinating with multiple teams while managing your own project responsibilities.

We are offering this as a remote position, however preference will be given to individuals in the Great Falls MT or Amarillo, TX areas.

Responsibilities:

· Maintain and further develop a comprehensive library of documentation, including online help sites, release notes, training guides, and other materials.

· Develop clear and concise materials that explain new software features to end-users.

· Edit and review company documentation for accuracy, clarity, and style.

· Ensure all company documents are written in accordance with internal guidelines and industry best practices.

· Create and maintain multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks based on release cycles.

· Coordinate with product areas, including development, business analysts, and customer support to ensure that documentation meets internal and external audience needs.

· Participate as a member of the Special Projects group with opportunities to contribute across multiple phases of the software development life cycle.

· Continuously improve the quality of company documentation by incorporating feedback and staying atop industry trends.

Position Requirements:

· Previous technical writing experience in a professional capacity, preferably within the software industry.

· Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise documentation.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a writing-intensive subject such as English or Technical Communication.

· Proficiency/experience with documentation tools such as Madcap Flare and MadCap Capture.

· Knowledge of basic CSS, HTML, and jQuery.

· Advanced proficiency/experience with Microsoft Word.

· Experience with Microsoft products (Teams, Excel, Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio, SharePoint).

· Experience with the Agile software development and release process.

· Familiarity with the crop insurance or agricultural industry is a plus.

· Interest in future casting and modern technology trends, such as chat-based AIs and alternatives to traditional written documentation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
