What You Will Do

• Open sterile supplies, prepare the sterile field and set-up instruments.
• Assist the Surgeon by passing instruments, retracting and other tasks.
• Perform surgical counts with circulating nurse.
• Handle intra-operative medications, solutions and specimens.
• Use state-of-the-art supplies and equipment to get the job done.

Qualifications

Current certification in surgical technology. Completion of a CST First Assistant course in which the curriculum addressed all the content areas of the “Core Curriculum for the CST First Assistant” and a degree or certificate was awarded. Maintains certification as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Current CPR certification.
