Purpose:

The Strategic Supply Capacity Manager is responsible of establishing and sustaining a robust supply chain capacity framework and governance. Oversight to ensure adequate capacity levels with suppliers for raw material, proactive escalation of risk, and opportunities to drive timely management prioritization decisions towards achieving business goals. NPI Buyers will report to this organization.

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Execute two times per year the Supplier Capacity Assessment to identify opportunities with suppliers and ensure projects related to capacity increase or dual source are identified and deployed to install adequate capacity levels with suppliers.
  • Ensure SCR (Supplier Change Request) are submitted by suppliers through the DOL portal in timely manner, to support the validation process for new equipment, new lines, or new processes, required to install additional capacity needed, to support the growth of the manufacturing sites.
  • The Strategic Supply Capacity Manager will be responsible to align with the owner of the SCR on the priority and the impact of the change planned with the supplier. This process will be key to align on the resource’s allocation and the due date of completion of the SCR, to mitigate any potential risk.
  • Create and communicate to the Procurement team the Calendar S&OP for critical suppliers. His/her responsibility through the different Components S&OP will be to assure projects related to capacity increase are monitor and reported on time to mitigate any potential risk.
  • Report adherence to Calendar S&OP each month.
  • Establish governance to monitor, report and escalate as needed status for projects related to capacity increase with suppliers.
  • Review and Update on a quarterly bases Safety Stocks for Raw Materials as needed. Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to establish inventory targets to support the different financial processes (BP, JU, NU).
  • Partner closely with the end-to-end supply chain including BEL’s, Category Managers, Value Stream Leaders, Demand Planning, LCM, New Product, Project Managers, Clear Water, Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering teams.
  • Actively participates of PP&L and Source components risk meetings, Customer Service calls to capture timely inputs on potential risk and opportunities, to provide strategic program updates.
  • Leads the NPI buyers’ organization and collaborate with the NPD teams, to understand requirements for different projects, making sure forecast is properly communicated to suppliers capacities are planned accordingly, and PO#S are released on time and with enough anticipation to support the growth for the new products.
  • Leads the SLOB review, to identify top offenders, and align with the Procurement, Planning, Manufacturing and Engineering organizations, on the action plan to report YOY reductions on the SLOB account.

Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

  • Know & follow company policies & procedures & assure that direct reports know & follow policies & procedures related to work activities performed in area of responsibility.
  • TRAINING: Complete training in area of responsibility & assure that direct reports are trained in area of responsibility within allowed time-period. Training is required for changes in existing policies & procedures, for new assignments & for implementation of new policies & procedures. Complete required periodic re-training & assure that required periodic re-training takes place for direct reports in areas such as safety & environmental.
  • SAFETY: Set standards for safe behavior. Recognize & reward safe behavior in others. Ensure that direct reports employ safe practices. Enforce safety policies & procedures. Evaluate staff member’s safety performance & ensure that safety is a part of each direct report’s GPMS.
  • Provide leadership for Purchasing team members in developing & completing objectives.
  • Mentor & coach department associates on career development.
  • Provide performance feedback to direct reports on a quarterly basis or more frequently if required.
  • Ensure department associates’ skills are in place to meet enterprise needs.
  • Reduce obsolescence excess & slow-moving material exposure by direct interface with engineering, materials, manufacturing, marketing & finance in the release of new products & phase-out of old products.
  • Facilitate deployment and maintenance of lean scheduling process to establish parameters, inventory targets, and continuous improvement to support customer service, inventory, and cost targets.
  • Define, develop & maintain, with the aid of on-line systems, lead-times, backorders & back log management.
  • Ensure demand & inventory management systems are maintained & continuously improved to achieve state-of-the-art business process technology.
  • Support ISO (International Organization for Standardization) 9000 activities
  • Follow J&J and Records Management Policies for Convenience Information, Records Retention Schedules, Training and Education, Document Hold Notices, Records Cleanout, achieving customer demand fulfillment targets, developing & implementing world-class inventory.
  • Management practices & standards.
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • Responsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications

Required:

  • Business or Engineering degree (operations, business, logistics, systems)
  • Bilingual: 100% advanced Spanish / English
  • 6 years materials function experience
  • Experience with planning, developing & implementing inventory management systems
  • Experience with materials management function in a multi-site environment to include demand management (DM), master scheduling (MPS), capacity planning (CRP), material planning (MRP) & inventory control

Preferred:

  • International materials management experience
  • MBA or equivalent
  • APICS (American Production & Inventory Control Society) certification
