SUMMARY

Oversees and supervises the daily operation of Admissions, Out Patient & ED Registration, Pre-Registrations, Patient Portal, Cashier and Financial Counseling areas.

JOB DUTIES

Participates in the planning, coordination and operation of all Patient Access Services. Coordinates duties, functions and personnel to include scheduling of a 24/7 staff of regular hours, holiday, vacation and time requests.

Works directly with the Director to identify department needs and goals

Prepares timecards and approves.

Generates and evaluates Insurance Verification Vendor of eligibility, estimates and productivity of all services.

Monitors all registrations and pre-registration processes to ensure the quality and quantity of work performances.

Completes annual performance evaluations of staff.

Maintains departmental Share Point sites.

Performs as a Meditech Super User.

Department (unit) based competencies and/or training are current Primary source licensure verification is up to date.

Job Description has been reviewed with the employee.

Ensures Annual Mandatory Con ED (UKG) has been completed within the last 12 months.

Meadville Medical Center’s Mission Statement, Standards, and Key Service Behaviors have been reviewed with each employee.

Monitors attendance is within policy guidelines for all staff.

Communicates effectively with PAS Leadership Team, other managers and other departmental personnel.

Provides information promptly and accurately.

Consults with and advises appropriate personnel of situations requiring attention.

Adheres to MMC communication policies including the use of cell phones, internet, telephone and e-mails.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC JOB DEMANDS

Strength: Sedentary Work – Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling 10 lbs. occasionally. Mostly sitting, may involve standing or walking for brief periods of time.

Reaching: Occasionally – Extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.

Handling: Occasionally – Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand.

Fingering: Occasionally – Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Talking: Frequently – Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing: Frequently – Perceiving the nature of sounds by ear.

Near Acuity: Frequently – Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Supervisory experience required.

A minimum of a high school diploma, prefer some higher education and/or courses.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to problem solve, identify solutions and make appropriate decisions.

Knowledge of Microsoft office products, computers and operating systems.

Knowledge of Meditech.

Demonstrated customer service skills in interactions with all patients, families and staff, including high volumes and stressful situation.

Ability to exhibit independent judgement skills and show initiative.

Ability to use tact and poise in representing MMC Health Systems.

Ability to energize team members.

Ability to adjust communications to fit the needs and level of understanding of the receiver.

Work with minimal direction and assistance.

Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily in an office setting. May be required to be in various hospital departments and locations. Occasional exposure to angry/hostile customers. May need to work under stressful situations with frequent interruptions.
