Corrections Officer – Entry Level: Must be a United States citizen. Must have received honorable discharge if military service was performed. Must be a minimum of 18 years old, a high school or GED graduate, pass a written civil service test, pass a background investigation, pass physical examination, pass drug screening test and be willing to work shifts, weekends and holidays as needed. Will be required to become Tennessee Corrections Institute certified and maintain T.C.I. certification. Will be required to maintain a valid driver’s license.

The Corrections Division plays a vital role in the public safety and criminal justice community here in Sumner County. Officers assigned to this division assume the responsibility for the safety, security, and welfare of the visitors, staff, and inmates in the Sumner County Jail as well as the community at large.

These functions are accomplished in accordance with T.C.A. § 41-4-140, nationally recognized Tennessee Minimum Standards as well as established policies and procedures.

Each of these established laws and standards are generally related to the Care, Custody, and Control of the inmates housed here in Sumner County, in a manner that is agreeable to both state and federal law.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,750.00 - $42,752.00 per year
