Clemson University's Institutional Excellence Dvision is looking for a Student Services Excellence Lead to fulfill the following duties:

  • Leads Institutional Excellence division projects related to the execution of the University strategic plan, facilitates division/college strategic planning, and supports assurance, monitoring, and reporting of University strategic execution actions.
  • Serves as the lead excellence lead for student services, overseeing strategic planning, operational risk, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Partners with Excellence Leads across the University to drive consistency in strategic planning and execution.
  • Serves as a university resource for strategic planning and execution and focuses on improving the quality and efficiency of the University student services.

JOB DUTIES:


40% - Essential - Strategic Planning:
Serves as a university-wide resource to organizations needing strategic planning facilitation or assistance. Leads and supports university-wide strategic planning activities. Serves in a key role partnering with multiple organizations¿ leaders and excellence leads to develop an integrated, comprehensive strategic plan for Student Services. This will include identifying and tracking/reporting on annual execution projects. Consults with organizational excellence leads to drive alignment of organizational strategic plans to Clemson Elevate and implement a standard framework for strategic planning, operational planning, and monitoring progress to plan. Assesses, reports, and recommends when to adjust initiatives and tactics to move the University forward.

40% - Essential - Strategic Execution:
Serves as a resource within the Office of Institutional Excellence as subject-matter expert for excellence leads in other organizational units. Coordinates and manages university-wide projects from inception through completion for student services strategic execution, and process improvements in support of the university strategic priority #1 Student Experience. Provides project management leadership and consultation as needed for organizations across the university in developing annual operational plans, and as lead for projects spanning multiple divisions. Identifies high priority strategic execution projects to be led by the operational excellence organization. Reviews progress and status of projects and identify actions needed to ensure deliverables are completed as required. Prepares status reports and provides updates on progress to plan and metrics to executive teams. Leads cross-cutting/cross-functional strategic projects.

20% - Essential - Institutional Excellence:
Leads excellence community of practice, providing opportunities for mentoring, training, sharing best practices, and networking among the university¿s excellence lead community. Maintains the operational risk register for student services organizations. Leads the development of kaizen boards for student services to monitor current and potential improvement projects. Facilitates value stream mapping, kaizens, and other lean/continuous improvement events. Collaborates with the Operational Resilience Team on identifying and mitigating strategic and operational risks identified through strategic and operational planning. Partners with peers in other IE organizations and excellence leads across the university on projects and analyses to foster an integrated Institutional Excellence identity and customer service approach.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Education - Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience - Experience managing large projects of significant complexity and risk.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


Education - Master's Degree - Business, Communications, Quality, Systems Engineering

Work Experience - Experience in project management, Lean/Six Simga, strategic planning and implementation, and/or quality assurance

Licenses/Certifications - CAPM or PMP; minimum LSS Green Belt certified or willingness to achieve certification within one year of hire; preferred LSS Black Belt trained and certified.

WORK SCHEDULE:


Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range ($ 94,300 - $ 100,000.00)

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL


Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
