JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The School of Public Policy (SPP) in the College of the Liberal Arts is seeking a positive, innovative, detail-oriented, and experienced Student Programs Assistant ( Administrative Support Assistant 3) to work closely with students, faculty, and staff within the School . This position provides administrative assistance to the School’s faculty team, as well as Enrollment and Advising Support and Student Services Support.

Responsibilities of the Student Programs Assistant include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and maintain student academic records; compile and monitor applicant credential files

  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Graduate Studies, Enrollment and Advising Specialist, and SPP faculty at large

  • Provide administrative support to the newly-created SPP Undergraduate Minor and Volcker/NextGen non-credit program

  • Respond to prospective student inquiries and advise students on departmental and University Policies

  • Assist faculty with travel arrangements, reimbursements, and purchasing card reconciliation

  • Assist with the coordination of the Schedule of Courses: submit new courses for approval; schedule distribution of Student Rating of Teaching Effectiveness forms and final exams

  • Serve as a liaison to the Graduate School and other University offices

  • Event assistance: reserve meeting space, update SPP’s calendar, arrange for catering when needed

Education and Experience : This position typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other qualifications include:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and attention to detail skills

  • Ability to work with a high level of professionalism both independently and as a member of a team

  • Ability to exercise discretion and judgement while managing confidential materials

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize tasks and be flexible

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, including Word and Excel

Additional Information : This is a limited-term appointment, funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
