Sam Reid of Robert Half currently has a permanent opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant to join their growing team in the Hi-Tech Engineering industry. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will also be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You will put your skills towards the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. This role is very integrated as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Sunnyvale, California area, at a company where effort is rewarded.Key responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial close workbooks to support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process
- Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers
- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
- Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision
- Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives
- Impromptu reporting and special projects, when requested
- Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
- Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on
- Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
- Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
- Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
- Recent and relevant accounting experience
- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Competent with spreadsheets and databases
- Skilled with ERP systems
- Self-starter and strong ethical standards
- Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
- Practical knowledge of NetSuite
- General familiarity with Expense Accruals
- Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired
- Well-founded grasp of fixed assets
- Experience with journal entries
- Bank reconciliations experience
- Expertise in Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Check Runs experience
- Proven knowledge of Expense Reporting
- Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
