Job description

Serves as the lead abstractor and assists with operations for the clinical data analysis section of the Health Information Management Department including work distribution, data validation, outlier recognition, data submission, quality review, and training. Identifies, isolates and collects clinical, administrative, and demographic data from patient medical records following specifications of various electronic databases and registries.

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
Bachelors Degree : Health Information Management or Nursing (Preferred)
Other : Completion of courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology (Preferred)
Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Experience
1 Year experience in a staff supervision role (Required)
1 Year experience managing a data collection initiative (Required)
3 Years experience abstracting according to CMS' Core Measures specifications. (Required)
3 Years experience collecting information from compiled sources following detailed specifications. (Required)
3 Years experience reading and interpreting handwritten medical documentation. (Required)
General Experience and knowledge of current coding classification system. (Required)

License/Certifications
RHIA - Reg Health Information Admin (Preferred)
RHIT - Reg Health Information Tech (Preferred)
