We are seeking a Product Manager like you to join the Crop Protection Group within the Agricultural Solutions division, located in Research Triangle Park, NC.

As the Specialty Crops Insecticide and Fungicide Product Manager, you will be responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the Marketing Plans for US Crop Specialty Insecticide and Fungicide Brands. You will also lead the development of BASF’s Insecticide and Fungicide strategy in targeted must win crop segments, including developing a clear business plan for strategic brands, identification & tracking of plan metrics, financial objectives, and implementation of strategies and tactics with sales, technical service and senior management.

You will be the primary contact person for your respective brands and be responsible for setting strategy with regional and global asset teams on the key products including project justification including building market development plans for commercialization. Other responsibilities will include identifying and leading co-promotion and co-marketing discussions with distributors and other 3rd parties for assigned brands to optimize overall profitability and share. Additionally, you will be tasked with developing, managing and implementing active ingredient plans which include situation analysis of markets, projections of future events, objectives, strategies, tactical proposals and post evaluations of results.

Formula for Success

  • Leveraging your Bachelor Degree and experience, you will manage an assigned business segment including operational forecasting, coordinating supply requirements with market developments.

    Successfully engaging inside and outside the organization, you will coordinate with other key internal and external groups to ensure segment-related plans are implemented.

    Your ability to lead and think strategically will be essential as you provide strategic direction / oversight to the Marketing Communications Specialist and Communication Agency in the execution of advertising, promotions, sponsorships, special events, collateral marketing and other promotional activities, with an overall objective of conveying a unified and distinctive leadership presence in the marketplace. You will also use this skill as you develop and update mid and long-term strategies for assigned brands.

    Motivating the sales force and distributors, you will keep them informed about products, product performance, and our go-to-market strategy.

  • Managing mid and long-term supply, forecasting, and profitability, you will balance operational capacities and market share development for assigned Diversified Brands and active ingredients.

  • Your strong organizational skills will aid you as you lead the development and update of product concepts, detailing mid and long-term strategies for lead market segments. You will also be required to prepare project plans for approval.

  • Demonstrating your solid business acumen, you will manage assigned product short & long-term supply, forecasting, and profitability by coordinating a balance between short-term operating results and long-term market share development. You will also use this knowledge in the support of other members of the sales & marketing team, helping to ensure company sales and financial goals are achieved.

  • Your targeted customer focus will be evident as you participate in ongoing customer interactions, helping to position BASF and our products.

  • Acting entrepreneurially, you will participate in the development & implementation of industry insights and messages that are impactful by identifying market & sales opportunities for BASF products.

  • Working well in a team, you will gain consensus and communicate brand plans with other product brand managers, sales teams, leadership team members, regional and global marketing teams to ensure successful execution of brand plans. You will also lead the development and implementation of a cross-group, go-to-market project.
