Job Summary
The Development Engineering Manager is a key role within Vistra’s growing Development organization. This individual will be responsible performing early-stage design and engineering of solar, storage, wind or other renewable assets.
This role is a hands-on engineering function that will provide all necessary design and technical support throughout the Front-End Loading processes of Vistra’s Development cycle. The role will act as liaison and interface with many internal business functions within Vistra and will regularly work with other key functions within the Development team (i.e., Project Controls, Project Development functions, and Finance functions).
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
- Develop electrical power system designs for renewable generation
- Develop renewable asset concept designs, technical models, including layout, SLDs, etc. in support of preliminary design and interconnection filing
- Develop PVSyst report and determine project performance ratio (PR)
- Design project parameters in support of economic analysis of the projects
- Provide input and review schedule for investment approval of projects
- Act as a stakeholder and facilitator of the early-stage estimation process for large scale utility-scale renewables projects
- Provide SME support and expertise to the preconstruction and engineering program managers and for procurement of portfolio wide equipment
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements
- 5+ years of direct engineering experiences within renewable energy industry
- Experience with early-stage engineering of utility-scale renewable projects, focused on delivering cost-effective designs and configurations
- Experience managing and executing utility construction projects and understanding of project management principles
- Ability to look critically at a problem set, identify unique solutions, and influence change.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – to be applied across the organization and externally, including the ability to confidently and effectively explain engineering requirements, including to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work with and manage confidential information
- BS in Engineering preferred
- Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
