SENIOR TAX ACCOUNTANT

The Lewis Group of Companies is actively seeking exceptionally well-qualified candidates for the position of Senior Tax Accountant.

In your role as Senior Tax Accountant, you will work under the immediate supervision of our Tax Managers and Tax Directors. You will have the opportunity to interact directly with vice presidents, managers and staff across various Lewis business units. You will be encouraged daily to be creative and proactive in many aspects of the Tax Department, including review of the Company’s tax practice guidelines, continuing to build upon best practices, expanding the department’s use of technology, and planning and monitoring its workload.

In your role as Senior Tax Accountant, you will be involved in a variety of duties and responsibilities, including the following:

• Interacting with the Company’s Accounting Department to assist staff members with the review and verification of account balances, and in the advancement of the accounting department’s policies and procedures
• Preparing workpapers and tax returns for 400+ entities that include, partnerships, limited liability companies, S corporations, individuals and trusts
• Limited review of individual and trust returns
• Preparing financial statement tax provisions
• Developing expertise and assist with the supervision of others in the areas of income recognition, cost allocations, cost segregation and cost recovery methods
• Performing calculations for quarterly and year-end tax projections and payments
• Ensuring the integrity of tax basis depreciation methods
• Participate in the ongoing pursuit of best practices in tax compliance and planning

Basic Requirements for your success:

• Bachelor’s degree in Taxation or Accounting
• 4+ years’ experience in tax, with real estate industry experience highly preferred
• Intermediate experience with CCH ProSystem fx Tax and Workpaper Manager (also referred to as Engagement)
• Large public firm experience desirable, but not required
• CPA certification preferred
• Familiarity with Subchapter K and income taxation of trusts
• Experience mentoring and training staff members
• Excellence in accounting fundamentals a must
• Strong written and oral communication skills required
