PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Senior Program Manager, Center on Extremism (COE) will play a critical role in the nation’s leading authority on extremism as a leader on COE’s partnerships team. This role will grow COE’s capacity to monitor, expose and disrupt extremism and hate by bolstering collaboration with partner organizations across diverse industries and interest areas through COE’s embedded researcher program and other programs. The Senior Program Manager will oversee the Center’s growing team of embedded researchers and project consultants to ensure the delivery of efficient, relevant and impactful investigative research, analysis and products. In addition, the Senior Program Manager will contribute to the expansion of COE’s efforts to counter hate and extremism by launching and leading other programs at the national and regional levels. This position will serve as a key liaison between COE and various external constituents and will collaborate with various internal experts, teams, and partners.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
  • Oversee a team of embedded researchers and project consultants working on a variety of projects related to extremism and hate.
  • Lead, motivate and manage staff, providing input on personnel decisions, assigning research and assuring expectations and deadlines are met.
  • Manage existing relationships with partner organizations collaborating with COE on existing embedded researchers.
  • Work closely with COE’s Director of Partnerships and Associate Project Manager to develop and implement priorities, strategies and impact goals related to partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Partnerships to strategically evaluate, secure, maintain and grow new relationships with partner organizations through the COE embedded researcher program and other programs.
  • Streamline COE’s work with consultants, including drafting and promoting RFPs, conducting hiring and onboarding, supervising the timeliness and quality of deliverables and building a roster of reliable consultants.
  • Work with ADL’s other national departments and 25 Regional Offices to expand and support COE’s programs that counter extremism and hate.
  • Build and broaden partnerships with organizations to amplify COE’s expertise on and impact against extremism across the ideological spectrum.
  • Represent ADL and deliver verbal presentations to external audiences including donors, law enforcement, partners, the media and the public as needed.
  • As needed, contribute to COE’s internal efforts to track and counter priority extremist subject matter areas by monitoring a wide variety of primary and secondary sources, including traditional media, social media, third party research sources, and others.

Qualifications:
Skills:
  • Excellent management, operational, communication and leadership skills.
  • A strong understanding of issues related to the domestic and international extremist landscapes; expertise in a particular priority extremist subject matter area a plus.
  • Excellent analytical skills; familiarity with various research and OSINT techniques.
  • Ability to multi-task and act flexibly in response to changing priorities.

Work Experience:
  • The ideal candidate has five or more years of related work experience with a demonstrable increase in skills and management experience.
  • Proven ability to plan and organize major organizational activities while managing multiple priorities.
  • Prior experience with complex project management involving internal and external stakeholders
  • Established familiarity with issues related to extremism, antisemitism and hate preferred.
Education:
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience required.
Work Environment:
  • ADL COVID-19 Protocol (updated periodically): ADL is adhering to public health guidance regarding COVID-19. ADL is a hybrid environment; this role may require up to 3 days in the office.
Compensation:
  • This position has a salary range of $86,000 to $110,000. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York, NY. Please note that actual salaries are commensurate with experience and reflect the budget for a given position, and since ADL has a location-based compensation structure, there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
