This position offers a person the chance to work in a variety of areas such as: comprehensive planning, zoning, hazard mitigation, GIS, grant writing, H2A housing inspection, and grant administration. Required job skills include: GIS, speaking skills, writing skills, zoning, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. The position requires a bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of experience. A Community and Regional Planning degree is preferred, but not required. Starting salary of $50,000 - $60,000 commensurate with education/experience and full benefits package including IPERS, health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, etc. The personal office for this position has a picture window.

North Iowa is a great place to complete projects because its organizations are known for working well together. North Iowa is also known for its architectural hotbed (last remaining hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, etc.) and for renewable energy resources (utility scale solar, wind turbines, and ethanol/biodiesel production). Entertainment in North Iowa includes: Toros and Bulls hockey (new ice arena), NIACC Performing Arts Series, wide open & natural spaces, the most restaurants per capita in Iowa, many bike & water trails, widespread broadband access, Clear Lake, musical history/programs, etc. It's also less than a 2-hour drive to Minneapolis to the north and Des Moines to the south on Interstate 35. To top it all off, your daily 'commute' would likely only be 5 to 10 minutes if you were to live in Mason City.

NIACOG also offers: flexing hours when needed, a typical 7.5 hour workday, paid mileage, and telecommuting during inclement weather, caring for sick kids, etc.
