Position Summary:

Leads all phases of large-scale assigned process or manufacturing improvement projects while ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Designs and conducts feasibility studies and solves problems.
  • Ensures documentation is complete and accurate and aides in communication to personnel.
  • Serves as an expert resource to other engineers and coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects.
  • Develops the sequence of operations, estimates time requirements for each, and prepares operation sheets.
  • Identifies, recommends and implements improvements and/or modifications in sequence of operations, equipment utilization, and related matters in order to increase efficiency and cost savings.
  • Designs and implements new line layouts or re-designs plant layout and provides technical leadership/training and/or coaching to other team members.
  • Lead and implement process improvement across the value stream to drive SQDCG measures utilizing lean concepts. Key Concepts: Lean Conversion (5S, flow, standard work, tools/materials at point of use & visual management), visual factory, single (best) piece flow, replenishment systems, transactional process improvement techniques, defect reduction and effective daily management.
  • Maintain the organization's energy & engagement by communicating impact of short-term progress on long-term strategic goals of the business.
  • Train, mentor, and build continuous improvement skills and philosophies across the organization.
  • Provide subject matter expertise across the organization to assess current processes and identify process/performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Works with site or functional leadership to develop overall A3 implementation plans, including current and future Value Streams, standard work, sustained stability to achieve higher levels of Operating Certification.
  • Drives self-directed work teams and works with Value Stream owners to achieve departmental KPI/TTI goals. Measures, tracks and communicates PE performance to plant leadership to identify plans for improvement.
  • Collaborates with management in selecting and prioritization of projects, leaders and champions that align with business/functional goals and strategies. Leads Black Belt improvement projects of significant, quantifiable size and scope, meeting the Regal certification guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering – Masters degree in engineering preferred
  • 5+ years Lean Manufacturing experience
  • 5+ years human factors and ergonomic experience as it relates to process design
  • 10+ years experience in similar role
  • Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma – Black Belt preferred
  • Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Strong Organizational skills and multi-tasking is required
