Summary

The Midway Motors Auto Group is seeking a Sales Professional for the McPherson Supercenter - GMC location to provide advice, sell/lease new and previously used vehicles, based on standards of gross profit, volume and the satisfaction of dealership clientele.

Role and responsibilities

  • MAJOR TASKS are listed below, but the incumbent may be assigned to other duties.
  • Welcome customers, build a relationship of trust and demonstrate serious commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Help customers choose vehicles by asking them questions and listening carefully to their answers, in order to identify their needs fully.
  • Explain product performance, functioning and advantages to potential customers.
  • Describes any optional equipment the customer might buy.
  • Offer to road test a vehicle for any potential customer. Follow dealership procedure to obtain the appropriate identity documents from the customer before the road test.
  • Explain, in a professional manner, the terms and conditions governing long-term leases, as compared to traditional purchase arrangements, based on customer needs.
  • Obtain the required information and complete all documents required to prepare for a sale.
  • Know and understand the concepts of equity and residual value and be able to explain the principles of depreciation to the customer.
  • Negotiate the price and have the transaction approved by the sales manager.
  • Forward 100 percent of the completed transactions to the F&I Manager, together with all the duly completed documentation (insurance information, the title for the transaction, etc.) immediately.
  • Adequately prepare customers and provide them with information, in order to take maximum advantage of meetings with the F&I Manager.
  • Define his/her annual personal sales objectives, having them approved by management and monitoring progress.
  • Review and analyze his/her activities at the end of each day, week, month and year, in order to organize his/her schedule in the most efficient manner.
  • Keep up-to-date on novelties with regard to products, features, accessories, etc. and their advantages for the customer.
  • Know and understand all federal, state, and municipal bylaws regulating retail automobile sales.
  • Participate in training courses on products and sales as instructed by the sales manager.
  • Delivery-related tasks
  • Verify vehicles sold to prepare for their delivery to customers before the customers arrive.
  • Deliver vehicles to customers, ensuring that they understand their functional features, the warranty and the documents to be completed.
  • Introduce customers to the after-sales department personnel, to highlight the quality and efficiency of the repair and maintenance service provided by the dealership.
  • Arrange the first check-up appointment with the after-sales department.
  • After delivery, follow-up on accessories, documents or other special requests promised to customers, to ensure that all customer expectations are met.
  • Tasks related to follow-up and prospecting
  • Contact customers within 48 hours of the sale to ensure that they are satisfied, to resolve any possible problems and to ask for referrals.
  • Contact the customers who did not make a purchase within 24 hours of their visit, to perform follow-up.
  • Seize business opportunities. Solicit and search for new customers, on a regular basis, making maximum use of various prospecting tools.
  • Use the dealership’s customer follow-up system.
  • Use the dealership’s customer development system.
  • At the request of his/her supervisor, take part in social or business activities.
  • Miscellaneous tasks
  • Cooperate in keeping the show room and/or the new/used vehicle lot clean and tidy.
  • Help display vehicles in the show room and the parking lots for new and previously used vehicles.
  • Act as mentor to new representatives.
  • Actively participate in sales team meetings.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
  • Perform other tasks, based on management requirements and instructions.
Basic and Preferred Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Certifications, licenses)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year relevant sales or customer service experience
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous work experience working directly with the public, selling or influencing others, establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships, and communicating with persons outside the organization via phone, face-to-face, email and/or social media.

  • Customer-focused with the ability to communicate directly with customers, explaining vehicle details, recommendations and costs
  • Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to enter data and process information
  • Cooperative spirit that requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying good-natured, cooperative attitude; being sensitive to other’s needs and feelings while being understanding and helpful
  • Professional appearance and work ethic
