Med-Computational and Systems Biology - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23002068)
The University of Pittsburgh's Department of Computational and Systems Biology is seeking a motivated college graduate with a degree in biological sciences, research experience, and a strong interest in research to join a molecular, computational and systems biology laboratory that studies signal transduction in single cells. This Research Technician will conduct research under direct guidance of the Principal Investigator and other lab personnel. On a daily basis, responsibilities will be to perform experiments, record and interpret data, participate in experimental design, and perform day-to-day lab maintenance. The incumbent will gain and utilize expertise in cell biology, molecular genetics, immunofluorescence, quantitative microscopy and image analysis in addition to the development and implementation of microfluidic systems for imaging human cell cultures. The incumbent will also work with computational tools and contribute to software for an ardunio-based microfluidic laminar flow controller.
Baccalaureate degree in biological sciences or a sub-field thereof. Coursework in cell biology, molecular biology, and genetics. Experience with the design and implementation of microfluidic techniques is appreciated but not required. Independent laboratory research experience in biology at undergraduate level or research job. Previous experience in Arduino and computer programming is a plus.
