Title: Research Assistant, Dixon National Tallgrass Prairie Seed Bank

Exemption Status: Non-exempt

Department: Conservation Science

Reports to: Curator, Dixon National Tallgrass Prairie Seed Bank

Resource: Up to 18 hours/week (one-year-term position)

Position Overview: Provide support to seed bank staff, including on prioritization, germination assessments, database entry, and related tasks.

Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for the following:

  • Work with seed bank staff to test viability of seed collections, plan new collections, manage permits, enter data into collections database
  • Conduct tasks related to seed banking as they arise
  • Occasional seed collection possible, if desired

Qualifications


Our ideal candidate will have the following:


  • Bachelor of science degree in botany, ecology, or related field
  • Seed germination experience or desire to learn
  • Interest in conservation or restoration science
  • Desire to work in a collaborative environment


Physical Demands:

Office and lab setting. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, listening, speaking, and keyboarding. Use of office and lab equipment. Occasional participation in field work if desired.
