Key Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the timely processing of inquiry and referral calls.
  • Serves as liaison to referral sources, physicians, unit staff and hospital personnel involved with each transfer request.
  • Enters call data into the facility’s database and manages all e-fax application(s) to process incoming referrals and transfer requests in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate with unit staff, physicians, and Admissions Triage Staff.
  • Follow hospital’s policies and procedures regarding referral management.
  • Customers served are patients, medical staff, allied health professionals, other hospital department staff and external individuals requesting information.

Qualifications

Education:
Master’s Degree in a Behavioral Health related field required. Licensed RN preferred.

Experience:
1-3 years of experience preferred in psychiatric health care.

Licensure/Certification:
RN’s encouraged to apply. Licensure as a Registered Nurse required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Excellent customer service and communication skills (i.e., verbal and written).
Ability to prioritize; work well under periods of high stress and pressure.
Ability to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
Thorough knowledge of psychiatric services and medical capabilities provided by the hospital.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Requires knowledge of computers and ability to utilize Department specific electronic applications; and accurate data entry skills.
Experience reviewing medical and clinical information to staff appropriately with physician is preferred.
