House of Hope, Inc. is seeking a part-time Recovery Advocate for our Evening shift ( 3:30pm -12am) this position does require you to work every other weekend, with the opportunity to be scheduled/pickup additional shifts.

The Recovery Advocate (RA) provides direct residential supervision to the clients of House of Hope. RA shifts are 8 hours around the clock with the potential for extended hours that will be determined by the RAS (Recovery Advocate Supervisor) and the Recovery Advocate Lead (RAL). The RA is responsible for maintaining the health, well-being and safety of the clients under our care during their stay. The RA will perform client intakes, discharges, conduct bad, area, and room searches, perform UA/BA testing per counselor instruction and document results. The RA will monitor clients to ensure they are following facility rules and expectations for the safety of all clients and staff. The RA will conduct medication counts, monitor self-administration of medications by clients, and document medication information in the medication log book to be reviewed by the RAS, RAL, and Staff Registered Nurse. The RA will document any incidents of behavioral issues, client requests and staff issues and report any discrepancies to the RAS. Bed and building checks will be directed by the RAS. Transportation of clients to/from medical appointments and/or groups when required.

Duties include:

• Completes and assists counselors with intake/admission procedures and orientation of new clients
• Maintains current knowledge of clients and their activities
• Monitors client-administered medications and documents accordingly
• Encourages clients to achieve their goals by functioning as a positive role model
• Monitors clients, makes facility rounds, documents relevant information related to clients’ needs and activities
• Provides transportation for clients to medical appointments
• Serves as a resource for clients through knowledge of services and opportunities within the community

Requirements:

• High School diploma or the equivalent
• Ability to pass a background screening
• If you have a history of chemical dependency, must be free of chemical use for one year
• Hold a valid drivers’ license and have acceptable driving record
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients and maintain client confidentiality

Preferred:

• Classes/education or experience working in the social services or health care fields.
• Experience working with the Substance Use Disorder population is preferred.
• Must be able to work with people from diverse racial, cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
• Must be empathetic and supportive of persons with Substance Use Disorders.
