The RDC Planner is responsible for the VTS Spares inventory in the Regional Distribution Center (RDC) so as to maximize customer service levels at the lowest supply chain costs. To support a supply chain infrastructure that enables achievement of business, operational and financial goals for the Atlas Copco Services business in USA, including Third Party Sales, multiple brands (Edwards, Precision Plus, IVS, Atlas Copco and future acquisitions), Field Service, and Service Hub activities.


Main Responsibilities

  • To manage and pro-actively improve the global fill rates of US supplied spares availability within the global service supply chain network. Monitoring performance and working with Local US Procurement teams to manage priorities along with improving the stock health of spares supplied from Edwards factories..
  • To manage Spares availability in USA monitoring performance and working with supply teams to manage priorities.
  • Inventory Sizing of Spares/Pumps – RDC
    • To manage the process for inventory sizing of spares in the RDC, using statistical methodology and coordinate input from Supply Chain Planning Team with Spares Management, and local Teams.
    • To manage the Materials Replenishment Processes and overall stock health (spares) by monitoring performance and working with supply teams to manage priorities and enables achievement of business, operational and financial goals for the Edwards Services business in US Service, including Third Party Sales, Field Service, and Service Technology Center activities.
    • To manage availability performance and supply of spares, monitoring metric and working with SSC supply team and internal Service customer to manage priorities.
    • To communicate with local stakeholders the suggested changes to US Service Inventory profile to enable the business to meet required Customer Service Level (CSL).
    • To review and approves inventory request from Sales department before changes are loaded in SAP.
    • Optimize inventory by sizing correctly, redeploying excess stock, scrapping aged/obsolete inventory
  • Expedites and Supply issue
    • There will always be changing requirements and unexpected needs which react to any shortfalls in supply finding the best solution in a timely manner and escalating where needed.
  • Material Transactions – RDC
    • To monitor physical inventory (PI) counts and associated activities are being completed by the local process owners.
    • To manage the Planning and Setting SS/ROP level related to specifically to customer requirements and related SAP transactions for shipping product out on a customer order and raise replenishment orders.
  • Process Controls & Data Integrity – RDC
    • To manage data integrity is being maintained at the RDC
    • To monitor aged open orders and make required changes in SAP to correct system issues or remove surplus demand.
    • Monitor aged in transit
    • Monitor excess plans
    • Turn planning on for parts that are required
  • Aged Inventory – RDC, Hubs, Onsites
    • To manage the adherence of shelf life controls and process are being followed at the RDC and obtain the necessary approvals to write off or set provisions for expired parts
  • Master Data Setup
    • To raise Change Request Forms for master data setup changes related to Service Information Bulletin changes, system holds (i.e. export set up required, not extended to Sales Org, etc), or pending cost roll.
  • Management Reporting & Reviews – RDC
    • To manage and maintain the key service supply chain and operations indicators by running various reports to include, but not limited to, US Service Stock Health, PI Variances & Accuracies, Inventory Changes, Non-Conforming Inventory and Changes.
    • To drive improvements and to enables achievement of business, operational and financial goals for the Services business.
    • To review performance indicators summary with RDC Team.
    • Attend weekly meetings to support needs of the STC
    • Attend weekly meetings with the central team to review projects and raise concerns, resolutions
    • Review stock at risk and expedite as needed with the supply site
    • Review CSL availability failures and create actions to improve CSL
    • Update a dashboard to ensure goals are being achieved
  • Process improvement
    • Work closely with the Service operations team to support any projects and developments as well as setting requirement to support the materials planning and forecast processes.
    • Respectfully takes direction from manager; other duties as assigned.


Education level

Bachelor’s degree in a business or equivalent discipline.


Relevant Previous experience

  • 5+ years of material planning experience.


Knowledge areas/Skills (minimum level of knowledge to fulfill the role’s responsibilities)

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of theories of JIT, Kanban, Vendor managed Inventory and Lean Manufacturing.
  • CPIM or APIC training is a plus.


Other requirements

  • Excellent communication skills including reporting, leading meetings and inter-personal skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized and can adapt to changing environments.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Office – PowerPoint and Excel and ACCESS knowledge desireable.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP (preferably SAP) with a solid understand of discrete manufacturing, bills of material, product life-cycle management and supply chain operations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to evaluate and analyze data to gauge its importance when making decisions.
  • Self-starter and effective time manager. Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
  • Able to work independently to work stand alone
  • Demonstrates an openness to change and readily learns and adapts to new technologies
  • Highly motivated to drive improvement
