The R & D Technician is responsible for will be to maintain output of consumables in a prototype and commercial production environment. Secondarily, this role will provide support to our development and manufacturing transfer activities.

This position will be part of the Production Operations department and will be located onsite at our Lab in Fremont, CA.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Routine technical laboratory experiments and procedures, documents results and maintains records/logs, makes observations and calculations, and prepares data for analysis.

Maintains, repairs, troubleshoots defects, and evaluates performance of laboratory equipment, inventory, budget, and general operations.

In consultation with management, establishes good laboratory practices and procedures that comply with regulatory agencies. Ensures laboratory environment and practices comply with guidelines set forth by company and regulatory agencies.

Coating and basic assembly of microfluidic consumables. Performing incoming and end of line quality testing.

Recoding of production data to batch records/travelers/databases.

Providing input to development teams based on production experiences.

Executing development builds with limited documentation.

The essential requirements of the job include:
Minimum 7+ years’ experience working in laboratory R&D or manufacturing environment. AA degree or greater preferred. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word & Excel.

Lift up to 20lbs. Ability to work with small parts and perform detailed inspection of features under a microscope. Ability to document production data accurately and consistently.

Proficient in general laboratory tools & techniques (pipettes, balances, pH/conductivity meters, microscopes, UOM conversions, fume hood use, safe handling of hazardous chemicals, etc.)

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

The successful candidate will bring a willingness and discipline to consistently follow defined protocols without deviations, sound laboratory fundamentals, and effective communication skills.

Comfortable with completing work under a limited degree of supervision. Reliably works within defined processes and may help determine the appropriate approach for new or atypical assignments.
