KEY TASKS

• Advanced RFQ preparation for new product quoting
• Assist Carlex Supply Chain Management with the finalizing of advanced component costs prior to actual RFQ coming from OEMs
• Provide input to the development of advanced product costing models
• Support the Carlex Sales and Program Management teams internally and at the customer with product and technical know-how to influence the design specification and styling level
• Prepare and present internal and customer technical presentations on various glazing related technologies
• Manage advanced product prototype samples, part builds and validation, including follow up at the supplier and/or customer level and inside/outside test facilities
• Visit new and established suppliers looking for advances in new technology, status of existing product, opportunities for cost saving, current capabilities and supporting root cause analysis
• Provide supplier engineering, development and qualification support to the Supply Chain Management team on advanced and current product
• Manage open actions resulting from supplier related visits
• General benchmarking and reporting from reverse engineering of existing product
• Management of a benchmarking database
• Incorporate on-going lessons learned into internal documentation and specifications
• Monitor the automotive glazing market and customer feedback. Use this information to understand and identify new product opportunities
• Design, prototype & validate support to Program Management for improving existing products
• Advanced product related on-site support at Carlex plants
• Assist to establish the Carlex brand, product names and trademarks

REQUIREMENTS
Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required Years of Experience:
• 4+ years of automotive related or glass industry experience a plus

Other Requirements:

• Business travel (some international) up to 35% with valid driver’s license required
• Regular and predictable attendance required
• Cooperate within teams to carry out tasks and responsibilities
• Overtime may be required as workload or projects dictate, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to learn and follow procedures while working safely in a manufacturing environment

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Product design experience including GD&T and
• Ability to multitask with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
• Working knowledge of customer testing and performance specifications
• Good negotiation skills with the ability to positively influence other team members
• Hands-on approach to problem solving and analysis
• Excellent Analytical Skills

Education

Preferred

Bachelors or better in Engineering or related field.

Experience

Preferred

2 years: Product design experience including GD&T and DFMEA

4 years: Automotive related or glass industry experience
