Division Overview
Hubbell Power Systems (HPS) engages in the design and manufacture of a wide variety of products used by utilities. Today, HPS is deeply engaged in product solutions for OSP Communication utility purposes, and has been actively growing that segment of the business. HPS roots have historically been in high voltage transmission, distribution, substation, underground products used by electric utilities. HPS products are also used in the civil construction, transportation, gas and water industries.

Position Overview


The Quality Supervisor is responsible for all plant quality, quality training, and assignment of work to quality team. Monitors attendance and employee performance of department, issues work assignments to employees of the department. Responsible for plant safety and training.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development. Make employment decisions for team. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
  • Ensure quality, safety, productivity, cost, and morale are balanced to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Perform accident investigations; recommend actions to prevent recurrence of problems.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources any disciplinary actions, which might be required.
  • Perform all duties while ensuring proper safety, cleanliness and chemical hygiene standards are met.
  • Provide daily factory floor support on matters involving product and process quality.
  • Champion the disposition of incoming materials and provide supplier development feedback.
  • Provide technical oversight for first article inspections and create incoming material inspection plans.
  • Author, Edit and Participate in reviews of documents to assure the quality of products and processes.
  • Provide oversight and maintenance for the instrument calibration program.
  • Provide expertise in process evaluations, product inspections, and material testing.
  • Provide quality support to Purchasing, Design Engineering, & Manufacturing.
  • Create inspection and product test procedures as well as related visual aids.
  • Assist Design Engineering in identifying required revisions to drawings and prints, with emphasis on clear, quality parameters.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience


Required:
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience including employee hiring and retention, performance review, and discipline
  • Leadership: Ability to think ahead and plan accordingly
  • Must have the ability to effectively work in an empowered environment remote from immediate management.
  • Microsoft Office Suite of tools (MS… Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Visio, etc.…)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of quality related operational processes such as testing, auditing, calibration, gages, and document control
  • Some travel up to 15% may be required
Preferred:
  • BS Degree – Engineering preferred (i.e., Chemical, Ceramics, Electrical, etc.)
  • Lean/Six Sigma training and a working knowledge of SPC and analysis techniques
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Functional background in the sustainment of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Systems.
