Job Overview

The Quality Manager provides leadership and guidance for the department, works to improve core processes and has strong project management abilities. This position is responsible for working cross functionally in order to manage the daily Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities for Westinghouse. The primary focus of this role is to ensure that our business processes, product quality and site documentation are maintained, accurate and meet QA standards. This position reports into the Vice President of Quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Obtain, analyze, and coordinates corrective actions on significant deviations from quality standards. Effectively communicates relevant information to the management team.
  • Participates in the review of design, manufacturing, purchasing, and test documentation & procedures to ensure that quality requirements are met.
  • Strongly engages with Product Development Process, ensuring effective Advanced Product Quality Planning activities.
  • Implement a “Problem Solving” approach to Quality issues that will drive sustainable Root Cause and Corrective Action.
  • Gather, analyze and report weekly & monthly metric data. Evaluate current data and trends to suggest and implement improvement ideas or corrective action activities.
  • Oversee field return analysis of equipment and parts for corrective actions and improvement measures.
  • Manage all ECR/ECO process activities and follow up.
  • Strives for continuous improvement in overall defect-reduction, monitors defect-reduction procedure effectiveness, and implements appropriate adjustments.
  • Coordinates continuous improvement of Product field quality performance partnering with Customer Service and Support, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
  • Communicates with supplier representative for quality related issues and concerns via email or through specific portals. Timely communicates with suppliers on open or pending actions items.
  • Works with Quality Engineers and production staff to troubleshoot issues and assist in corrective actions.
  • When required, assist supplier with quality problems by investigating, tracking trends, and other issues contributing to poor quality.
  • Support and track departmental goals and objectives that provide high levels of quality and product performance.
  • Assist in coordinating testing, training, and qualifying technicians and individuals who work product recovery, customer service, or parts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Fluency in Mandarin highly preferred
  • Experience in planning and conducting quality audits.
  • Working experience with Asian manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturing and managing supplier quality and product inspection.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Strong documentation skills in creating Standard Work, Work Instructions, and controls.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Detail-oriented work ethic with a high degree of accuracy on multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft.
  • Ability to translate technical information to all audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of business management software, NetSuite a plus.
  • Experience using statistical analysis software.
  • Six Sigma, Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor, and/or Lean Certification.
  • Experience with portable generator, inverters (permanent magnet technology), pressure washer, 4 cycles gas engine, battery (Li-ion) powered power station and outdoor equipment is a strong plus.
  • Working with regulatory agencies such as CSA, UL, EPA, and CARB.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and wiring diagram.
  • Knowledge of relevant manufacturing /quality processes and tooling such as stamping, bending, welding, powder coating, casting, plastic molding, assembly, and machining.

Education/Training Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline.
  • 5 years of relevant industry experience, with a minimum of 3 years of quality compliance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $67,170.24 - $119,764.76 per year
