Summary/Description

The Quality Engineer, located in our plant in Oklahoma, is responsible for establishing and improving quality processes that support new product launches (APQP) and current production operations. Additionally, the QE will manage customer concerns through an established problem-solving process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

CUSTOMER SUPPORT

· Maintain access to customer web sites and databases to ensure compliance to customer specific requirements, including customer plant quality issues requiring 8-D responses

· Lead external and internal customer problem resolution meetings

· Lead or support problem solving analysis, report on customer field returns with product engineering as part of a cross functional team. This analysis includes visual, mechanical, dimensional and metallurgical characteristics. Determine the root cause to drive corrective/preventive actions

· Prepare PPAP packages as required

PRODUCT LAUNCHES

· Review customer SOR’s, contracts and change requests as required and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and control plans

· Monitoring of customer portals and quality reports on a weekly basis and escalate as necessary

· Establish and verify the data acquisition in the production data collection system aligns to the control plan

· Support of APQP tasks such as DFMEA, prototype control plan, process flow, PFMEA, process documentation, problem solving, gauge planning and acquisition and gauge installation

· Lead APQP tasks such as development of control plans, managing gauge R&R internal/external laboratory certifications, defining inspection and data collection for product characteristics, retention of PPAP master samples, and verification of compliance to customer specific requirements

CURRENT PRODUCTION

· Maintain data acquisition in the production data collection system to ensure it aligns to the control plan

· Review and analyze performance data and identify trends to drive timely corrective actions

· Lead release and maintenance of quality alerts, scrap disposition per appropriate procedures, and capability reviews

· Quality Coach – Act as training organizer, lead trainer, and auditor for production on quality procedures to foster a quality at source culture using good manufacturing practices and ISO principles

· Support of change management activities

· Support layered process audit findings and resolution

· Development of risk reduction and detection (Poka Yoke) of non-conforming product characteristics

· Lead or support problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement

· Manage requalification testing

· Maintain access to customer web sites and databases to assure compliance to customer specific requirements including PRR, QR, or other customer issue notifications

· Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses

· Lead investigation of non-conforming product (i.e., EOL failures, performance issues, product variation reduction, etc.)

· Performance Measurement – Track metrics associated with key performance indicators for department and plant quality on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis

· Cross-trained on the Quality Technician responsibilities

· Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation

· Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data

· Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility

· Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality and environmental activities

· The incumbent must have a complete working knowledge with the advanced quality planning process. The individual must have intimate knowledge of process flow diagrams, design and process FMEA’s, control plans, and project management tools

· Other duties as assigned within the capabilities of the employee or as specified in the project RASIC

Required Skills and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering

· Four to Ten (4-10) years of experience in a manufacturing environment with customer quality support interface with automotive experience

· Working knowledge of basic quality principles (i.e., ASQ CQE Body of knowledge or equivalent)

· Proficient in statistical analysis and problem-solving tools, including software usage

· Working knowledge of ISO/IATF

· Quality experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of appropriate process improvement techniques (i.e., zero defects, supplier certification, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)

· Strong Self-Motivation and Results Driven

· Excellent Problem Solving, Root Cause Analytical, and Detail Skills

· Proficient at MS Office applications
