Job description

We are looking for motivated individuals to assist our Quality Control Team. As a member of the Quality Control Team for a manufacturing facility you will perform routine bacteriological and chemical testing of blended and spray dried products. Work with other departments to ensure all company and regulatory standards are met.

Hours: 6:00pm - 6:00am, rotating shifts or 6:00am - 6:00pm, rotating shifts

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains control of all original Quality documents.
  • Ensures accuracy of Quality policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to test all products for physical, chemical, and bacteriological means.
  • Accurately interpret and record testing results.
  • Reviews production paperwork for accuracy and traceability.
  • Prepares product samples for customers and outside laboratories testing.
  • Ensure problems are brought to the QA Manager's attention.
  • Assist QA Manager in food safety audits and SOP reviews.
  • Other document or lab related duties as assigned.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING REQUIRED: The employee must wear approved clothing, a hair net and hearing protection, as required when working in production areas.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred within Food Science, Safety, or Quality Management. 1+ years in quality role within manufacturing facility preferred. Minimum 1 year food production experience.

BRC REQUIREMENTS/ RESPONSIBILITIES: Support BRC by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner. Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. Backs up QA Manager in their absence.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret quality assurance documents and compliance regulations. Ability to write reports, policies, and procedure modules. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions concerning quality issues from groups of managers, executives, and employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to quality. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistics.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of governmental laws and technical information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:. Requires the ability to organize and coordinate quality procedures. General understanding of usage, maintenance, and calibration of all lab equipment. Experience updating procedures. Requires an overall understanding of product specifications, appearance, and body/taste requirements

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must occasionally travel on company business. The employee is occasionally exposed to non-weather wet, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, non-weather-related extreme heat and cold, works near moving mechanical parts, and sources of electric shock and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate while working in the office and loud while working in proximity to production equipment.
