Continental Manufacturing Chemist (CMC) seeks a Purchasing Manager to join our team at our newer facility in Huxley, IA. Candidate must have experience in purchasing ideally in a manufacturing setting.

This position is full-time and day shift (Monday - Friday, roughly 8AM to 5PM), with benefits!

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Establishes goals and objectives for the purchasing department with emphasis on strategic sourcing that align with the company’s requirements.
  • Collaborates with all departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
  • Process purchase orders, handle routine interactions with suppliers and provide a service that is customer friendly.
  • Evaluate, manages, and negotiate various vendor costs, quality control, and distribution capabilities to make suggestions or selections, as necessary.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and concise reports, specifications, correspondence, and other written materials.
  • Work with internal departments, such as Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Research and Development, Accounts Payable and multiple suppliers on existing product developments and lead the selection process.
  • Assist and support new product introductions, line extensions and promotions with timely execution of contracts to meet respective shipment dates.
  • Manage suppliers by monitoring their performance and feedback; Address any issues or problems as they arise.
  • Source and suggest alternatives or amendments to suit the customer’s priorities and uphold authorized fund limits.
  • Create and implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high levels of service and quality.
  • Maintain direct and indirect inventory material requirements.
  • Perform inventory audits when discrepancies are found.
  • Aid in logistics with Third Party Logistics (3PL) company.
  • Manage and oversee deliveries, if damage occurs, to work with suppliers and/or carriers to file claims.
  • Create and maintain detailed data for part numbers and Bill of Materials within ERP system.
  • Other duties as necessary/assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, and at least 2 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing facility is required, OR At least 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment can be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • CPP/CPPM certifications are a plus.
  • Supervisory experience is a plus

Computer Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Understanding of ERP/MRP systems

Other Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • High attention to detail

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
