POSITION CONCEPT
Develops and manages Renewable Energy solutions and services in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives. The program manager is responsible for the thought leadership and central ownership of customer-facing renewable energy programs including support of net metering, Sun to Go and Sun Select to meet company goals most efficiently and effectively. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for providing, to all the supporting departments within the organization, the direction and strategy that will support the Renewable Energy programs while balancing the interests of the company and its shareholders.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports work within Customer Experience business unit and cross functionally with Corporate Strategy, Regulatory, Finance, IT, Legal, Procurement, and Energy Delivery to manage existing renewable energy programs.
  • Drives execution and manages ongoing program for operational execution within Customer Experience function. Responsible for marketing, budgeting, operations, performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Provides support when applicable to the company’s net metering tariff compliance for all customer-owned, grid-tied renewable systems with solar distributed generation less than 2MW.
  • Responsible for Sun to Go and Sun Select programs. Responsible for internal and external marketing, operations, reporting and continuous improvements.
  • Responsible for in depth knowledge and regular reporting of key performance metrics for renewable energy programs (customer participation, retention, growth goals, etc.).
  • Monitors customer satisfaction metrics (e.g. JD Power survey results) to assess gaps in TEC to top quartile utilities, leading practices, etc.
  • Collaborates with marketing firms or Corporate Communications department in the development of external communication and new marketing collateral for customers.
  • Identifies and establishes modifications of existing programs or new solutions through ideation, feasibility analysis, business case development, business planning and ultimate system implementation, deployment and operation of new products or programs.
  • Engages on technology projects (i.e. AMI) as key stakeholder or business owner as projects indirectly or directly impact the design or operation of renewable energy programs.
  • Actively engages and provides thought leadership in shaping strategic plans for both FL operations and representing TECO for Emera corporate or other Emera affiliates.
  • Presents internally at department meetings, TECO 101, leadership meetings, etc.
  • Supports other miscellaneous and department activities as needed (community service, industry conferences, energy management, etc.)
  • Actively participates in storm restoration activities as required by the organization.
  • Also, participates in the annual “mock storm” events as set by the Emergency Management department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related field (i.e. Information Management Systems, Marketing, Accounting, Communications, Engineering, etc.) from an accredited institution in accordance with TEC’s policy

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Business Management or related field from an accredited institution in accordance with TEC’s policy.

Licenses/Certifications

Preferred:

  • Certifications demonstrating a breadth of knowledge in Renewable Energy (Renewable Energy Professional, REP)


Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of program management experience

Preferred:

  • Minimum 3 years of direct work experience in renewable energy technologies in solar industry or utility operations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)

Required:

  • High level of initiative, motivation, and ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to develop relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of Renewable Energy to influence Program sustainability
  • Knowledge of JD Power customer satisfaction drivers.
  • High level of judgement and problem solving.
  • Proficient with MS Office (pptx, word, excel).

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and electric regulated utility renewable energy programs.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy business drivers (financial, political, regulatory) for vertically integrated regulated electric utility business model.
  • Knowledge and practical experience with the following principles and concepts: Strategic thinking, conflict management, project management principles, business case development and review, financial acumen.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to use JD Power research tools, analyze benchmarking data and distill to key concepts and take-aways.
  • Advanced use of MS Excel, including pivot tables and formulas.
