Location: Albuequrque, NM

The Program Director supervises/oversees the Client Services at the Community Outreach Program for the Deaf - New Mexico (COPD-NM). Client Services includes case management/advocacy services, Support Service Provider (SSP) services, and technology distribution program in both the Albuquerque and Las Cruces offices in New Mexico. This position ensures that the Client Services team consistently applies effective, professional practices in case management, SSP services, and technology services. This position assists the Agency/Associate Director in coordinating and conducting outreach activities throughout the state of New Mexico. This position assists the Agency/Associate Director in the development and implementation of services to New Mexicans who are older deaf, deaf/hard of hearing with a significant disability, or deafblind. This position also assists the Agency/Associate Director in overseeing and managing all contracts that fund Client Services activities. Position may be stressful and require a high demand of performance. The position requires extensive travel across the state of New Mexico. Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Rehabilitation, or related field
  • One year providing direct services to individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing
  • One year in providing services to individuals who are deafblind
  • One year in the provision of counseling or case management services
  • One year of supervisory experience in the area of counseling, case management or related services.
  • Ability to communicate in American Sign Language
  • Ability to communicate with individuals who are deafblind in their preferred language/mode of communication
  • Ability to travel independently
  • Pass FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Summary
  • Valid New Mexico Driver License, proof of insurance, and Motor Vehicle Division Motor Vehicle Report for New Mexico
  • Pass drug screening test

Desired Qualifications

  • Licensed counselor LPC, LAC, LISW or related license in NM.
  • Additional years of experience working in counseling, case management, services to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Additional years of experience providing services to individuals who are deafblind
  • Additional years of directly related experience
  • Additional years in supervision.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language and/or Signed English
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Fluency in uncontracted Braille
  • Fluency in contracted Braille (BANA and/or UEB)
  • Certification of completion of contracted Braille course
  • Fluency in alternate communication modes used by individuals who are deafblind or deaf-plus (e.g., tactile signing, print-on-palm, tangible symbols, etc.)
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Experience working with individuals with fine and/or gross motor disabilities
  • Proficient in using assistive/access technology and software
  • Certification in any specialized technology for individuals who are deaf, blind, or deafblind (i.e., ZoomText, JAWS, etc.)
  • Certification and/or endorsement for education of students who are deaf/hard of hearing, Certification and/or endorsement for education of students who are visual impaired/blind, Certification and/or endorsement for education of students who are deafblind, CRC/CRCC, COMS, CLVT
  • Proficient in the use of low vision devices (optical and non-optical)
  • Proficient in the use of assistive listening devices
  • First Aid and CPR certification
