What we do

The North America Professional Development Director will be responsible for partnering with the Global Lead of Professional Development in setting and executing on the strategy of the function: including revising staffing strategy when necessary, strategic people priorities such as performance management, the counselor program, further integrating the India CoE into North America, feedback, onboarding and the intersection of Learning & Development with Professional Development.

The Director will work in close partnership with the Regional Leaders and Industry Leads of North America, the wider North America and Global Professional Development and L&D functions, as well as North America HR on Gartner Consulting strategic people priorities. This role reports directly to the Global Lead of Professional Development.

Role Purpose

North America Professional Development:

  • Partner with Global Leader of Professional Development and Region Leads on all strategic talent priorities within North America, including liaising with office leads, regional engagement leads and learning leads as questions and conflicts arise.

  • Develop one-on-one relationships with the North American Senior Leadership Team to set and execute on the strategy for Professional Development Programs and staffing that best support the growing Gartner Consulting Business.

  • Play a key role in leading initiatives centered around our mission to attract, hire, develop and retain the very best talent. You will be setting strategy, creating content, project managing and prioritizing demands to ensure initiatives are driven forward to impact.

  • You will work with stakeholders from across the Consulting business, including NA Leadership, HR, L&D, Recruiting and our Global Strategy & Operations team. Therefore, strong stakeholder management and communication skills are key.

  • You will leverage best practices from across Gartner and outside of Gartner to build best in class people strategies.

  • Partner with HR to manage associate evaluation processes, feedback and promotions.

  • Lead priority professional development global strategic initiatives such as refining end of engagement feedback, onboarding, revamping competencies, or championing the EM Learning Journey.

  • Embed a staffing culture amongst the senior associates and leaders in North America – including coaching teams on engagement design, adherence to the staffing cycle cadence and the apprenticeship mindset in staffing.

  • Develop and present at Regional or NA Town Halls, First Fridays, local training and other events, e.g. focus groups, as required.

  • Partner with HR and Leadership on advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Role Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.

  • MBA Preferred

  • A range of 8-10 years professional experience is required, 2 years progressive experience in management required, preferably in a Talent role.

  • Experience in staffing or resource management, ideally in a consulting environment.

  • Extensive experience in presenting and communicating ideas to others

  • Proven experience in managing and developing staff from different organizations and with diversified levels, skills and backgrounds.

  • Strong customer service, meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills necessary.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information appropriately; ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint is required

  • Must be able to work in dynamic environment with challenging deadlines.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent organizational, interpersonal, and team skills.

  • Outstanding project management skills (projects involving internal and external stakeholders) with an ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads.

Compensation:

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. The New York City base salary range for new hires into this role is $144,000 - $171,000 annually, based on factors such as performance, location, and experience. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
