New 12-hour, 2-2-3 work schedule; every other weekend off.

New Start pay is $19.00/hour; $20 at 90 days; $20.20 at 1 year plus $0.75/hour 2-2-3 work schedule premium.

Shifts will be assigned during orientation.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Shaped Film Operator Location: New Haven Avenue
Reports to: Operations Department: Shaped-Direct

Position Summary

Responsible for all aspects of producing film insulated wire safely and efficiently from the beginning of the process through the finished product.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of producing film insulated wire, including: load and unload reels manually; string up machines; set machine and take-up controls for proper operation; assure proper enamel flow; troubleshoot machine and quality problems
  • Maintain safe machine operation; maintain proper housekeeping in work area
  • Comprehend and follow process sheets, ISO documentation and other production documents
  • Conduct quality testing, including dimensional testing using micrometers; record results in computer and/or paper documents
  • Calculate proper splits of bare wire reels to minimize scrap
  • Weigh, wrap and label each reel utilizing scale system
  • Make Koldweld and hot brazes
  • Change dies as needed utilizing proper die set ups from process sheet
  • Monitor computerized in-line bead detection and HVC equipment and properly respond to system alarms

Position Specifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Ability to work assigned overtime.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to read and interpret process sheets and other production documents. Ability to correctly read and interpret decimals.
  • Ability to adjust to changes in equipment/tools and modifications to existing equipment for the purposes of continuous improvement
  • Ability to follow safe work practices in a manufacturing environment around moving equipment
  • Ability to operate micrometers and other production testing equipment and record data; basic computer skills.
  • Ability to operate powered production equipment

Physical Demands: o Frequent manual pushing/pulling plastic reels up to 300 pounds suspended from a hoist. o Frequent manual rolling and turning plastic reels up to 300 pounds o Frequent standing, walking and bending o Frequent rolling and turning steel reels weighing up to 1,200# on steel plated floor o Frequently reads and interprets instructions and test data and visually inspects wire o Occasional reaching above shoulder level while pulling downward o Occasional use of stairs

  • Work Environment: Work performed in a manufacturing environment. Floors may be slippery due to steel plating.
