We are seeking a State Procurement Officer to join a great team of procurement professionals with a passion for the acquisition of goods and services. Our mission at State Procurement is simple and important – get government entities what they need to serve our citizens.

Our knowledgeable, passionate and high-performing team provides comprehensive purchasing services for the State of North Dakota. This includes working with over 60 state agencies to promote procurement best practices, conduct procurements, negotiate and administer statewide contracts.

To succeed as a State Procurement Officer, you will possess excellent communication, analytical, and research skills to learn multiple procurement techniques and work with a mix of internal and external stakeholders. This includes work from the initial stages of planning the procurement, solicitation of bids and proposals, contract preparation, negotiation, and contract management.

Hiring Salary Range: $4,800 - $5,900/month; depending on experience.

The successful candidate must reside in North Dakota. This position may be considered for a remote work arrangement within the state of North Dakota.

Summary of Work

This position will perform a variety of duties including:

  • Develop procurement strategies for a variety of goods and services.
  • Develop and administer large, complex statewide contracts.
  • Research potential state contracts and cooperative purchasing opportunities, including market research and customer needs assessment to develop new statewide contracts.
  • Provide procurement assistance and mentorship to state agencies and vendors.
  • Participate in procurement-related special projects and programs.
  • Conduct outreach to state agencies, institutions, colleges and universities, counties, cities, local government, public schools, and vendors, including training, writing articles, and making presentations.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in purchasing, contracting, logistics, supply chain management, or closely related area.
