Job Description:

This role is responsible for developing the techniques, tools, and procedures for all aspects of F-35 TR-2 Quality Engineering for the division, including F-35 TR-2 System analysis and design as well as F-35 TR-2 System integration and test.

L3Harris is searching for talented Senior Specialist Manufacturing Process Engineer to support manufacturing of high-speed avionics hardware and manufacturing processes. The type of hardware produced at this L3Harris location is often complex, containing circuit card assemblies (CCAs), microelectronics assemblies, cable hardness and higher-level system assemblies. The person filling this position will focus on the process engineering support and development for the manufacturing of these variety of high-performance avionics hardware. In depth familiarity with all aspects of printed circuit board design and fabrication will be highly beneficial in this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop the techniques, tools, and procedures for all aspects of F-35 TR-2 Quality Engineering for the division.
  • Develop F-35 TR-2 Quality Engineering tools and procedures for F-35 TR-2 Design, Analysis, Integration, and Test.
  • Document and control F-35 TR-2 tools and procedures.
  • Disseminate new F-35 TR-2 tools and procedures to junior engineers and the rest of the organization as appropriate.
  • Provide F-35 TR-2 Quality Engineering expertise to support manufacturing tasks and issues.
  • Provide F-35 TR-2 Systems Engineering expertise in support of NRE contracts and Business Development
  • Meet with customers and Business Development to develop requirements and specifications for new and existing products.
  • Work with customers (External and Internal) to develop system level technical objectives, schedules, and budgets.
  • Support proposal generation with F-35 TR-2 System performance analysis and trade studies
  • Design and develop new F-35 TR-2 sensor payloads for custom (NRE) contracts and IRAD programs.
  • Assemble, integrate, and test F-35 TR-2 sensors to meet project specifications.
  • Work with BD and other organizations to develop technology and product roadmap and to define and prioritize IRAD activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical connections and interactions with other F-35 TR-2 Systems groups as well as relevant industry and academic groups
  • Cross-division support of Product Development and IRAD plans.
  • Cross-division support of B&P and Business Development activities.
  • Contribute to the scientific community by writing technical papers and serving on committees.
  • Mentor the junior engineering staff
  • Supervise design and analysis done by more junior engineers.
  • Disseminate advanced knowledge and skill to improve the engineering level of junior staff.
  • Work effectively with other design disciplines as well as manufacturing to create design solutions that address often-conflicting requirements.
  • Serves as technical lead or principal investigator on major IRAD or CRAD contracts by scoping research efforts, directing technical activities and analyses, and leading final reporting and presentation.
  • Develop and maintain technical connections and interactions with other F-35 TR-2 Systems groups as well as relevant industry and academic groups including contributing to the scientific community by writing technical papers and serving on committees.
  • Periodic travel may be required.

Quality Engineering Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience with BS Degree with a minimum of 10 yrs of prior related experience or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 yrs of experience.
  • Extensive experience with many areas of F-35
  • Experience working cross-divisionally to create better technical and financial offerings to customers.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Ability to interact with and connect tothe customer community
  • Possess working knowledge of F-35, SMT, Avionics industry and competition.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbal) to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Able to effectively plan and organize projects and manage priorities.
