Primary Care Physician
The Physician is responsible to accomplish the primary goal of providing clinic-based comprehensive primary care for patients of WFHC. Physicians work independently performing tasks such as obtaining medical histories, physical exams, assessments, chronic care management, and plans of care. The Physician should be an analytical and detail-oriented problem solver. Must have the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals as needed. The Physician assumes responsibility and accountability for health promotion and/or maintenance including the use and prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. This is a position of trust.
Communication
Strong oral and written communication skills are required for this position. The information must be exchanged using tact and persuasion appropriately. The person in this position must be able to communicate effectively and diplomatically with clients, staff, and others; and contribute to a positive environment.* The ability to communicate in Spanish, Creole or both is a plus.*
Key Responsibilities

• Obtain and record a detailed medical history of each patient including, but not limited to, the patient’s chief complaint, his/her present condition, the patient’s individual history, and his/her family history.
• Perform complete physical examinations of each patient reasonably necessary to evaluate various primary care conditions and identify the need for any referrals.
• Provide comprehensive medical services to patients presenting for care at WFHC, on a continuing basis; examines patients, using medical instruments and equipment.
• Analyze reports and/or findings of tests and personal examinations in order to assess the condition of the patient, including diagnosing his/her injury or illness and formulating a prognosis.
• Effectively communicating with patients and other health care staff to manage patient care.
• Referring the patient to other physicians, including specialists and other health care providers, when and if needed.
• Prescribe medication or treatment plans for the patient’s condition.
• Perform such clinical procedures as are consistent with the Physician’s training.
• Keep and maintain appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered.
• Use electronic medical records systems.
• Prepare and address all reports, claims, and correspondence necessary and appropriate to the performance of the professional services and ensure that records and documentation are in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
• Demonstrate integrity, care, and compassion when collaborating with patients, families, and staff.
• Adhere to the standards and policies of the Organizational Privacy/Security and Compliance Programs, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, OIG guidelines, and other State and Federal laws).
• Fulfill HRSA and health center productivity standards, such as UDS.
• Maintain the privacy of all patients, employees, and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes.
• Comply with all regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations. Report unethical; fraudulent or unlawful behavior or activity.
• Maintain confidentiality of the organization by ensuring that information is accessible only to those authorized to have access and is protected throughout its lifecycle.
• Ability to work as a team member, establishing and maintaining effective relationships with patients and staff.
• Exhibits cultural sensitivity.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Employer from time to time that is commensurate with professional services normally and customarily performed by a physician.
• May occasionally need to travel from one clinic to another for coverage.

Education & Training

• Graduate of an accredited medical school
• Valid and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Florida
• Board certified in any primary care specialty or infectious diseases
• Continuing education as required by License and specialty

Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years of practice, exclusive of the internship; one (1) year of supervisory responsibility or experience in a community-oriented medical practice preferred
• Expensive knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws governing ambulatory and/or healthcare facilities
• Knowledge and ability to use an Electric Health Record (EHR)
• Knowledge of HEDIS quality indicators

Requirements

• WFHC requires all employees, volunteers, and contracted individuals working full or part-time at any of our facilities to receive the COVID-19 vaccination
• Level 2 background clearance required
• Proof of immunizations for (1) Tdap, (2) MMR’s, HEP B vaccination, and either a history of chickenpox (varicella), or documentation of the varicella vaccine, a PPD Test is done once upon hire.
