Preschool Teacher (Three-Five-Year-Old):

1. Encourage the child to grow with positive self-esteem in knowledge of things he/she can do

2. Encourage the child in sitting for group activities such as the listening to a short story, singing a song or doing a finger play for short blocks of time no more than 10 minutes

3. Teach cognitive skills such as colors, matching, shape, counting and poems

4. Teach socialization skills such as sharing, working with others, respect of property, staying with the group and taking turns

5. Teach large muscle skills such as sliding, clinging, kicking and throwing balls

6. Teach small muscle skills such as painting, cutting, drawing, block building, etc.

7. Care for the child’s basic needs such as eating, sleeping and toileting in a relaxed yet sanitary way

8. Show child caring by caring as a parent in a home-like atmosphere

9. Teach the child to follow directions by giving 3 to 5 step directives

10. Teach the children by example and instruction about neatness of person by orderliness as in picking up, cleanliness as in washing hands, etc.

11. Instruct the child in group behaviors such as follow the teacher/leader, staying with the group and moving from place to place in a safe, orderly fashion

12. Instruct in toilet training and using/demonstrating good hygiene practices such as wiping correctly and watching hands after elimination

13. Encourage the child to explore the environment through creative play in a safe way such as feet on the floor, bottoms on the chair, etc.

14. Encourage and instruct on the developing language skills such as vocabulary, sentences, grammar

15. Instruct in acceptable eating and table manners such as washing hands before meals, sitting while eating, proper use of utensils and talking when mouth is empty

16. Encourage the child to be in control of his/her emotions and provide constructive outlets for frustration, anger, love, etc.

17. Clean, sanitize and disinfect the entire area used by you and the children

18. Supervise the children and protect them from hazards at all times

19. Reinforce the child’s developmental learning skills through a variety of activities such as art, songs, movement, stories, dramatic play, etc.

20. Keep records of child’s development and learning, noting areas that may need your guidance and share the child’s progress with the parent. Each child is to have a portfolio that contains samples of their work and supports your observations of the child as well as formal and informal assessments

21. Prepare written lesson plans per Step Up to Quality

22. Perform additional duties as requested

Must pass background check, must be 18 years or older. Valid Drivers License. Sign on and pay raise after 90 days.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $10.10 - $13.00 per hour
