Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain PostgreSQL database servers in AWS RDS (Aurora)
- Design and implement redundancy and HA strategies including read replicas
- Conduct performance tuning, performance monitoring, capacity planning, and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tasks
- Design and implement backup/restoration strategies per data retention requirements
- Diagnose and resolve production issues
- Maintain database security and auditability
- Provide insight to team leadership regarding best practices for PostgreSQL and mentor team members to develop talent
Requirements & Qualifications:
- 5 years working as a database administrator working with PostgreSQL
- Expert level SQL, PL/pgSQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
- Expert level Postgres troubleshooting skills including identifying & resolving blocking, long running queries and other events that negatively impact the database
- Knowledge of database design principles, query optimization, index management, integrity checks, statistics and isolation levels
- Working knowledge of AWS RDS/Aurora
- Desirable to have experience migrating/rewriting views, stored procedures, functions from MSSQL to PostgreSQL.
- Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience managing other database platforms MSSQL, DB2, MongoDB etc.. is a plus
